The Institute for Peace & Diplomacy (IPD) seeks to promote diverse perspectives about important foreign policy issues in Canada. In support of this goal, we dedicate a generous budget for freelancers and foreign policy experts to submit articles for publication on the IPD Blog.
If you’d like to pitch your idea or submit an article for publication, please review our requirements, program areas and our About Us section to learn about our mission and our values. Articles compatible with our organizational priorities and program areas have a greater chance of being selected for publication. Compensation is $200 for each article.*
Pitch your story with a specific topic. For instance, please do not send a pitch on a broad topic such as the Candian peacekeeping missions; you should narrow down your focus to a specific dimension of the Canadian peacekeeping missions and explain the angle you are pursuing.
The article must be an original work of yours and it should not be published in any other outlets.
The length of your article should be between 700 to 1,500 words. If you would like to submit an in-depth analysis (+2000 words), please indicate this interest in your pitch.
We review every pitch/article submission carefully. If your article is accepted, we will send you a confirmation email within five business days. Unfortunately, we can only respond to submissions that we accept to publish and cannot provide constructive feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
Once your article is accepted we will ask that you provide a short bio (max 150 words) within one business day if you have not included one in your initial application.
Please email all your submissions to info@peacediplomacy.org
* For experts who do not wish to receive compensation, IPD will donate the full amount on their behalf to a charity of their choice in Canada.
